About us
Gayle Guyardo, the longtime host and co-creator of BLOOM, a daily health and lifestyle television show airing on WFLA News Channel 8, is a trusted journalist and anchor on television for nearly four decades. A third-generation Tampa native, Gayle has dedicated much of her career to spotlighting breakthrough medical treatments, holistic healing, scientific weight-loss innovations, and emerging fitness trends—empowering viewers to live healthier, more informed lives.
Over her 33 years at WFLA, Gayle has become a familiar and respected voice in Tampa Bay. She also anchored News Channel 8 Today each weekday morning from 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m., and regularly features stories highlighting the people, places, and passions that make the Tampa Bay community thrive. Her commitment to local storytelling stems from a deep-rooted love for her hometown and a desire to see Tampa Bay continue to bloom.
Before returning home, Gayle helped launch an independent television station in Sarasota and worked as a Capitol City reporter for Montgomery, Alabama’s ABC affiliate, where she later anchored Good Morning Alabama and served as the station’s evening weather anchor. She is a graduate of Auburn University with a degree in Communications and also attended Northwestern University for specialized theater and communications training. During college, she interned at several television stations, including WTOG Channel 44 in Tampa Bay.
Above all, Gayle is inspired by people who make a difference—through their work, volunteerism, or simply how they live their lives. Those “gr8 inspirations” can be found in her stories across WFLA News Channel 8 and WTTA Great 38.
Gayle and her husband Mark, also a Tampa native who grew up just blocks away, are the proud parents of four daughters: Katie, Lindsay, Ali, and Ella.
